SCADA Infrastructure Specialist
Description
  • The purpose of this position is to design, program, configure, secure, troubleshoot and maintain the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) networks, software and control system for a power plant
  • Responsible for performing general system administration; utilizing technical resources on projects; installing and configuring servers, Ethernet switches and firewalls; conducting routine preventive maintenance on all hardware; troubleshooting problems;

Main Duties
  • Design, implement, and maintain SCADA network architectures, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks, to support the effective monitoring and control of industrial processes.
  • Configure and optimize SCADA systems, ensuring seamless integration with industrial control devices, sensors, and field equipment.
  • Responsible for liaising with IT Corporate Security to establish and maintain data and network security for OT Network
  • Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated protocol for SCADA network administration, usage, and reliability and disaster recovery.
  • Monitors SCADA network performance and troubleshoots problem areas as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT network Administrators, Engineering, Contractors, Operators and cybersecurity specialists, to ensure the seamless integration and optimal operation of SCADA networks.
  • Review and provide input on engineer project designs. Oversee contractor implementation of SCADA equipment and programming.
  • Responsible for maintaining SCADA network monitoring software with all device addresses and receive/respond to alerts accordingly.
  • Responsible for assisting IT Network administrators with performing system data backups, system patches, and server software upgrades as required.
  • Tracks, maintains and updates inventory of hardware and software installations, desktop computers and peripheral equipment to ensure that minimum amount of spares is maintained.
  • Provide training and knowledge sharing sessions to internal teams on SCADA network best practices, protocols, and cybersecurity measures.
  • Ensure compliance to the company’s Environmental, Health and Safety policies and procedures when on the plant site and during the execution of work duties.
  • Operate company vehicles (including forklifts) as required in a manner consistent with company policy
  • Be available to respond to emergencies at all times outside of regular working hours, as may be required by plant contingency.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned by the Director of Energy Production.

Academic/Technical/Management Qualifications
  • A Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in designing, implementing, and supporting SCADA networks in an industrial environment, preferably a Power Plant environment
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, Ethernet, LAN/WAN protocols, routing, switching, VLANs, and VPN technologies. Experience with SCADA protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, and OPC is preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of industrial control system (ICS) security principles, including network segmentation, intrusion detection/prevention, authentication, encryption, and vulnerability management.
  • Proficient in diagnosing and resolving network issues using network analysis tools and methodologies.
  • Experience with network equipment, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points. Familiarity with SCADA software (Wonderware), HMI systems, and programming languages (Allen Bradley) is advantageous.
