Job Description:

Purpose
A Staff Well Site Supervisor supports wells site operations, to deliver consistent and cost-effective activities without compromising health, safety and environmental standards and in accordance with Statutory Regulations and Company Policies.

Key accountabilities:
HSE
• Ensures full Wellsite compliance with the HSE policies and procedures as detailed in the HSE Management System, HSE Standards and all other Shell HSE documentation.
• Conduct relevant HSE-Critical activities as specified in the HSE-Critical Activities Register
• Ensures all personnel are fully conversant with, and strictly adhere to, their responsibilities as detailed in the HSE Case for the respective installation.
• Sets a clear leadership example and promotes a high degree of health, safety and environmental awareness among subordinates.
• Performs reviews of effectiveness of contractor HSE systems and HSE communications.
• Implementation of the Hazard and Effects Management Process (HEMP), using (mini) risk assessments for routine and non-routine operations.
• Fulfils tasks identified in the departmental HSE Plan and ensures presence during monthly office HSE meetings.
• Co-ordinates activities on the well site affecting health, safety and environmental matters, in particular, when several line departments are involved.
• Ensures all non-routine hazardous work is performed under the permit to work system.
• Ensures all near miss incidents and incidents resulting in injury or damage to assets, equipment or the environment are reported to the Wells Operations Team Lead and that assigned incidents and near miss events are notified, investigated and a report is written.
• Shall be certified PTW Authorized Signatory.
• Is the Shell representative at the regular Well Site safety meetings.

Well Site Operations
• Supervises the execution of Well Construction activities (drilling, completing and well interventions).
• Supervises the contractors and service personnel to ensure all work performed conforms to safety, quality and highest value requirements and in accordance with the well program.
• Responsible for day-to-day optimization of activities and provision of first line action and problem solving in case of unexpected events during the operations.
• Provides sufficient, accurate and timely data to WOTL and office-based Well Delivery Team members when required.

• Coach and mentor less experienced team members to deliver best-in-class performance in HSSE, cost, and time
 

Business Management
• Responsible for validating the daily costs input into the cost reporting systems.
• Calculates and reports the cost of services execution based on the job execution record and contract rates.
• Minimizes equipment rental time and personnel on board by the timely and efficient transfer of materials and personnel to and from the well site/rig.

•  Champion and lead a team of supervisors in tracking well costs and job timing during execution, including differentiating trouble costs/time from expected costs/time.

Well Delivery Process, Planning & Execution of Operations
• Provide input during deliver well on paper exercises in terms on risk management.
• Perform Well Handovers from Asset Owners and release back when required.
• Monitor, optimize and verify operations and HSE
• Hold well site operations meeting and prepare look ahead plan
• Provide input to well delivery programs and program amendments
• Provide input to office operations meetings
• Participate in After-Action-Reviews conducted at the well site.
• Provide input and capture 1st line HSE and Operational improvements and incidents into approved local database.
• Implements and discusses with other teams lessons learnt at the well site.

• Responsible for championing operational performance improvement initiatives throughout the well delivery process. Support the implementation of new technologies as part of the performance improvement process. Lead the supervisory team in implementation of opportunities to optimize operations.

Contract Management
• Is the delegated person at the well/rig site for the Contract Holder as Company Site Representative.
• Monitor the day-to-day progress of the contractors. As contract User, verify completion or delivery of work.
• Verify that the contractors are acting in accordance with the provisions of the contract, particularly HSE and Quality requirements.
• Issue operational worksite instructions in accordance with the commercial arrangements approved by the Contract Holder.
• Prepare and maintain records
• Provide feedback on performance

Requirements
• A Wells professional who should have a Round 2 certificate or Round 2 diploma, if certification is required upon hiring, candidate must commit the personal time to study and pass exams
• Meets/exceeds skill elements in a staff well supervisor role
• 4+ years in well engineering/operations with a wide variety of technically complex projects.
• Exposure to project leadership with understanding of the interaction/dependencies between E&P disciplines (subsurface, surface, drilling and production). Understand performance improvement processes such as deliver the limit. A proven track record in delivering projects and championing initiatives.
• Holds HSSE as a core value by making HSSE Goal Zero an integral part of work cycle in planning, designing and executing well work.
• Demonstrates enterprise-first behavior with exceptional communication skills.

• Fluency in English and Spanish is required

  • Schedule: Rotational. Most time on a well site in living accommodations 12-14 hrs/day while on shift. Significant time in contractor partner’s bases, Shell office for planning and stakeholder engagements
