Job Description:

What’s the role

First things first, a little background: Shell Trading and Supply (T&S) is one of the largest energy trading operations in the world. T&S combines a global network of trading companies, industry-leading shipping and maritime capabilities, and an integrated network of supply and distribution activities for Shell. Through our main trading offices in London, Houston, Singapore, Dubai, and Rotterdam we trade crude oil, natural gas, LNG, electricity, refined products, chemical feedstocks, and environmental products. Within Trading and Supply sits the Operations team providing a seamless alignment between all trading and supply commercial and operational activities, enabling the best commercial decisions to be made and executed on a daily basis. The team is fully focused on Operational Excellence and works closely with the supply teams and help optimize the supply of refined petroleum products in bulk between the upstream refining and downstream marketing organisations within BeNeLux and Germany.

What you’ll be doing

This is a fast-paced environment and we’re looking for people that know they can thrive in such business. For this, we don’t just need you to be commercially driven but also effectively use your previous experience, preferably in a similar role.

Other accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assuring the optimized operational plan gets executed. Where required work closely with logistics (marine and land) and manufacturing sites to understand and resolve any deviations from plan
  • For unexpected events like an unplanned prompt shutdown, develop scenarios to assess feasibility and economic outcomes of various supply options to mitigate supply disruptions and its financial impact
  • Analyze performance data (inventory levels, customer lifting, data quality) using available platforms such as salesforce, Power BI or transport management systems TMS, and identify and drive corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives to drive performance and value
  • Identify opportunities for improvement of ways of working with subject matter experts (SME)
  • Drive and promote disciplined execution among stakeholders, ensuring focus on the end-to-end mindset and value delivery in the planning process
  • Act in accordance with Shell's Health Safety Security and Environment (HSSE) guidelines and understand impact of HSSE requirements on own business. Proactively monitor customer's HSSE needs and practices

The scope of this position may vary depending on the operational activity assigned per desk.

What you bring

  • Strong interpersonal skills along with negotiations and stakeholder management skills are proven assets that you bring to the table
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in the field of Maritime Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics or Shipping
  • Preferably, you have proven experience in commodity operations, supply chain management or a similar operational role
  • Ideally you have some experience with Petroleum and/or renewable products
  • Fluency in English along with proficiency in another language like German, French or Spanish is a plus

If you don't see yourself fully reflected in every job requirement listed on the posting above, we still encourage you to reach out and apply. Research has shown that not everyone applies when they don’t feel 100% qualified. We are committed to creating a more equitable, inclusive, and diverse company and we strongly encourage applicants of all genders, ages, ethnicities, cultures, abilities, sexual orientation, and life experiences to apply.

We'd like you to know that Shell has a bold goal: to become one of the world’s most diverse and inclusive companies. You can get to know more about how we're working towards that goal, click here. Read more in English by clicking this link.

Company Description

Most Dutch people know us from the 570 retail stations where they can fill up, recharge and buy fresh sandwiches and coffee. But Shell is more than the stations. The company that started over 130 years ago grew into one of the world’s largest energy companies. And during that time, operations in the Netherlands have continued to expand.

For example, from Rotterdam, Shell coordinates the supply of lubricants for transport and agriculture, aviation fuel and raw materials. Shell Pernis produces the building blocks for healthcare disinfectants and muscle relaxants in Intensive Care. Amsterdam is home to one of our largest research centres in the world: the open Energy Transition Campus Amsterdam. From our campus in The Hague, we lead Shell’s global energy transition. Pernis is home to one of our main refineries and Moerdijk is home to our Dutch chemical plants.
