What’s the role?
The Senior Subsea Engineer is accountable for providing engineering and operational support for the Subsea and Pipeline Asset Class for the Shell T&T Upstream Assets.
The main responsibilities of the Senior Subsea Engineer are:
- Focal point for Manage Asset Care for the Subsea Systems in Shell T&T
- Provide engineering support for all subsea systems, focusing on Asset Integrity and Process Safety Management, Regulatory Compliance, System Reliability and Competitive Financials.
- Plan, manage and perform subsea interventions for Shell T&T assets
- Perform subsea surveillance to monitor the health of the Shell T&T subsea assets
- Perform subsea engineering Asset support to Projects and Developments
- Perform Contract Holder responsibilities for Subsea related contracts
- Serve as technical point of contact for the subsea system.
- Provide input to the annual budgetary planning cycle
- Share information learning’s via functional and discipline networks.
- Assist in the development and use of meaningful Key Performance Indicators relative to the discipline.
- Participate/Lead incident investigation teams.
- Create and maintain an environment of inclusion that respects and values individual differences and is aligned with Shell’s core values.
- Coach, train, and mentor junior team members
- Utilize the Shell Safety, Environment and Asset Management (SEAM) to:
- Ensure safe production from the subsea production systems towards the attainment of Goal Zero.
- Perform Subsea and Pipeline Annual Asset Integrity Reviews
- Perform Subsea Surveillence, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Technical Assurance, Management of Change and Manage Threats and Opportunities.
- Develop and maintain the equipment care plans for the subsea assets.
- Collaborate closely with the Upstream teams to identify operational constraints & reliability risks to develop cost effective practical solutions to drive improvements to safety, reliability, unscheduled deferment and costs.
- Apply the Causal Learning process to drive root cause analysis and implement appropriate solutions to prevent reoccurrence of incidents or failures.
- Perform technical reviews of Management of Change (MOC) proposals and execute implementation tasks.
Support Subsea Projects and Interventions:
- Support abandonment and decommissioning of subsea wells and facilities through compliance with regulatory requirements and approvals.
- Support commissioning and start-up of new assets and brownfield projects.
- Implement small subsea projects (defined as requiring no more than 2 man-weeks of engineering time) – project management, design and HSE review, MOC, installation, testing and commissioning.
What we need from you?
- Must have at least 8 years of Engineering experience in the Upstream Oil and Gas Industry
- Engineering Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
- Engineering Master’s Degree preferred
- Technical Proficiency in the following areas:
- Skilled in Asset Integrity Management, Subsea Integration with Other Disciplines, Subsea Installation, Subsea Interventions and Marine Operations and Subsea Surveillance and Integrity Management during Operations
- Knowledgeable in Subsea Flow Assurance Strategies,Subsea Infrastructure Hardware and Engineering, Subsea Control, Distribution and Safeguarding Systems, Subsea Equipment Failures Analysis and Subsea Life Extension, Decommissioning and Restoration.
- Excellent team player, be able to mentor, coach and inspire less experienced team members in own sphere of competencies and integrated areas.
- Able to respond to emergency calls as needed and work extended hours as appropriate.
- Offsite and offshore travel required.
