This role offers an exciting opportunity to support the Engineering and Brownfield Team in optimizing and troubleshooting gas processing systems, including compressors, pumps, air coolers, tanks, offsites, and other essential process equipment.

As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, analysis, and optimization of gas processing facilities, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operations. This role will involve both technical challenges and collaboration within a Joint Venture (JV) environment, requiring you to work effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain process models using Aspen HYSYS, Unisim, and PIPESIM for gas processing systems.
  • Perform flare system, PSV, and blowdown calculations using Flarenet.
  • Conduct equipmentsizing for compressors, pumps, aircoolers, separators, tanks, pressure vessels  and  heat exchangers with tools like HTRI.
  • Contribute to process optimization across systems such as slug catchers, gas dehydration, condensate stabilisation, offshore/subsea facilities, and offsites.
  • Assist with bottleneck analysis, identifying capacity constraints, and recommending improvements.
  • Support Management of Change (MoC) processes for plant modifications.
  • Engage in HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, and QRA reviews to ensure safety compliance.
  • Provide technical reports, calculations, and design documentation, ensuring alignment with Shell DEPs and international engineering standards.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to resolve production issues, minimize deferments, and enhance product quality.
  • Work closely with project teams, contractors, and JV stakeholders to meet technical and operational objectives.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 7+ years of experience in process engineering in gas processing or upstream oil and gas design.
  • Proficiency in Aspen HYSYS, Unisim, PIPESIM, Flarenet, HTRO and AutoCAD is plus.
  • Hands-on experience in process systems involving:
  • Compressors, pumps, air coolers, separators, heat exchangers, storage tanks, and pressure vessels.
  • Familiarity with slug catchers, gas dehydration, condensate stabilisation, and offshore/subsea systems.
  • Strong understanding of international process design codes and process safety standards.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a Joint Venture environment, working with cross-functional teams and external contractors.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical information and collaborate with diverse teams.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented approach to problem-solving with a focus on safety, cost-effectiveness, and operational efficiency.

Soft Skills for Success in a JV Environment

  • Adaptability and Flexibility: The ability to navigate the complexities of working in a Joint Venture environment, managing diverse stakeholder expectations while balancing operational and safety goals.
  • Collaboration and Diplomacy: Strong interpersonal skills to work with different teams, contractors, and external partners in a multinational, cross-cultural setting.
  • Project Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and execute projects while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality.
  • Problem-solving Mindset: A proactive approach to identifying challenges and proposing innovative solutions.
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy and thoroughness in engineering design, safety reviews, and process documentation.

Performance Measures

  • Successful completion of engineering tasks within the defined scope, cost, and schedule.
  • Effective support in optimizing gas processing systems, contributing to cost reductions and safe, efficient production.
  • Contribution to plant reliability and asset integrity by addressing bottlenecks and improving process performance.
