Job Description:

Leaders with strong commercial skills and experience are critical to achieving our aims of building upon our marketing strength, focusing on key growth markets, and strengthening the whole organization. Let Shell help you to be an outstanding marketing manager whose expertise translates into increased brand awareness and profitability.

Where you fit

The energy market in India is poised to become an exciting opportunity with steady growth (5-6%), infrastructure build-out, and imminent liberalization. Shell is ready to participate in this opportunity with Shell Energy India (SEI) as the downstream extension in the energy value chain to capture the value and protect Shell’s asset position.

The SEI business which was established in 2017 comprises Gas Marketing & Trading; New Business Development including Trucked LNG; Commercial operations and Power Trading. It is a Trading and Supply entity that forms part of Shell Energy Asia (SEA) organization and is envisioned as Shell’s single face for the energy requirements of Commercial and Industrial (C&I) customers in India initially focusing on gas / LNG by pipelines and trucks, but also including power and other energy and environment products and services in future. Since starting as an independent commercial organization in 2018, SEI has witnessed explosive growth by doubling its own gas sale volumes every year and has successively broken the record for LNG cargo throughput at Hazira terminal twice in a row.

Become a member of a high-performing Marketing Team comprising marketing managers, business analysts, and supply managers, foster a healthy culture and work environment in an uncertain and challenging market; while continuing to meet the business goals (both value and volume); and develop the competence-base and commercial acumen. This will be an excellent opportunity for you to have a strong and consistent track record of delivery to broaden your skills in the gas industry.

What’s the role?

As Marketing Manager, you will identify potential customers, create a sales funnel, and manage key customer accounts for marketing and commercial aspects of gas sales starting from origination to contract management.

This role is responsible for developing and maintaining close relationships with industry stakeholders.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Spearhead the transition from capacity to commodity model by growing short and long-term gas sales and purchase opportunities for SEI, developing commercial, contractual, and personal relationships, to facilitate the gas marketing activities, and maintaining a healthy balance between capacity and marketing volumes to maximize revenues and terminal throughput.

  • Participate in commercial transactions with regards to negotiations and structuring of commercial Agreements and physical Transactions (LNG, Gas, Regas, and Pipeline).

  • Optimize SEI portfolio by having clear understanding of book and position, and think creatively to create value for SEI.

  • Ensure that the internal processes with respect to deals & mandates are followed and where applicable

  • Work proactively with the relevant functions to develop or modify such processes to bring speed and simplicity to operations.

  • Support the Marketing Team in managing a trading (P&L) book with regular updates of the forward pricing curve.

  • Ensuring consistency in decision-making w.r.t taking long and short positions and maintaining the exposures within the mandated VAR limits.

  • Lead the formulation of customer/segment-specific short-term and long-term marketing and pricing strategies.

  • Monitor the developments in the Upstream, Power, Refining, Fertilizers, Infrastructure, and CGD businesses in India as well as global LNG markets, assess its impact on business, and calibrate strategies accordingly.

  • Work closely with Business Development, Commercial Operations, Power, and Regulatory teams and contribute to or provide inputs where necessary for pursuing NBD and other growth opportunities.

What we need from you

You will also need the ability to distill the information, structure complex deals, build a compelling argument, coordinate inputs from other regulatory, commercial, and functional experts and execute approved business plans.

Functional Expertise:

  • 10+ years of experience with strong commercial and trading experience within gas/LNG market would be an advantage.

  • Experience working with senior management of external organizations.

  • Ability to lead long term deals or opportunities which require engagement with various internal and external stakeholders.
