What’s the Role?
The Shell Houston Lube Oil Blending Plant (LOBP) is in Texas, Galena Park, USA. HLP is the world’s largest Lubricant Blending and Packaging plant and produces branded products such as Pennzoil, Quaker State, Rotella T, Helix, and other Shell branded lubricants. HLP is committed to a world class maintenance and engineering team to meet our overall strategy.
Shell is seeking for Maintenance Mechanic to join us at the Shell Lubricants Plant in Galena Park, TX.
The Mechanic will be responsible for safely performing maintenance on Production Equipment within the facility. This role includes preventative, reactive, routine, and non-routine Maintenance.
Responsibilities:
Comply with all HSSE regulations, policies, standards, practices and actively participate in improving plant safety culture
Operate tools and machinery to affect assigned work. This may include welding, rotating equipment, solids & liquids transfer systems, chemical hazards, and other work in an industrial facility
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance work as assigned. Can include, but not limited to: Pump rebuilds, piping rebuilds, filter changes, and other repairs to plant equipment. This will include using a laser alignment tool, sheave alignment tools, belt tension tools
Use computer in daily routine, including data entry into computerized management maintenance system
Read and comprehend drawings including, but not limited to plant layout, P&ID, equipment drawings
Understand piping systems and their uses, including knowledge of and adherence to plant piping standards
Work in a lubricants manufacturing environment
Identify and implement equipment improvements to increase plant reliability
Communicate to operations employees, supervisors, and others regarding the identification of problems and completion of jobs in their area both verbally and in writing
What we need from you
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Must have a minimum of 2 years of current and continuous industrial mechanic, or millwright experience, preferably in the high-speed packaging industry
Must possess one of the following in a mechanical craft discipline:
Union/Company Apprenticeship
An associate degree in a mechanical field
Military Maintenance A School
Trade school certificate
Preferred minimum of 2 years’ experience with high-speed packaging and rotating equipment including but not limited to::
Fillers, (volumetric and weight)
Cappers
De-palletizers
Stretch Wrappers
Conveyors (overhead)
Drum Filling equipment
Bottle checking equipment.
Chains, Sprockets, shafts, bearings, gear boxes etc.
Drop Packers
case erectors
Bottle squeezers
Photo eyes
Proximity switches
HMIs
PLCs
Electrical troubleshooting
Pumps, Motors and Gearboxes
Hydraulic equipment
Must have the ability to use Hand Tools
Must have the ability to read drawings
Must have the ability to take field measurements
Must have the ability to install and remove equipment
Must have the ability work off JLG and scissor lifts
Must have the ability to operate a forklift
Have the ability use welding and torch are a plus

Must be at least 18 years old
Willing to work outside in inclement weather with or without accommodation

The starting hourly rate for this role is $35.03. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave to birthing mothers, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
Additionally, employees are eligible for disability leave for up to 52 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
