What’s the role?

The Perform Maintenance Execution (PME) and Perform Turnaround (PTA) processes are delivered at Monaca via the Maintenance/Turnaround (M/T) Manager who serves as the responsible owner for leading effective and competitive routine and major maintenance/turnaround planning and execution (Total Maintenance).

This role is accountable for maintaining collaborative relationships and working across peer functions on Extended Leadership Team to ensure demands are met in a safe, timely and efficient manner. The role is a member of the MTAC leadership team serving along with the MTAC Manager, Routine Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Excellence Manager and Major Maintenance/Construction Manager. 

Accountabilities:

  • Accountable for the safety performance across Total Maintenance for the site.

  • Build, develop, and maintain a capable and efficient organization and work processes which provide a fit for purpose Total Maintenance support to meet site goals and objectives.

  • Line implementation manager for SEAM Performance Standards and RP’s and ensures long term integration of the same by providing detailed procedures for execution where they do not exist (examples include planning and scheduling premises, scope challenge, where necessary, for MAC risk based scoping, major maintenance criteria, TA Plan for Plan, TA addenda process, etc.)

  • Resource broker for site based resources utilized for Total Maintenance support as well as soliciting other sites for support.  

  • Ultimate accountability for site to deliver against established premises for Total Maintenance.

  • Accountable for catalyst and industrial cleaning support (chemical side only) to the production areas.

  • Accountable for delivery of the Total Maintenance processes. Specifically, serve as owner of results for the Planning, Execution and Closeout Phases.

  • Work collaboratively with owners of the Demand Reduction (MAC), Identify & Prioritize, Controls Team, Permit Planning, Shutdown/Decon/Startup.

  • Functional Accountabilities & Direct Reports

  • Serve as the Site Process Focal Point for Total Maintenance and be an engaged member of the Site Process Owner/ Site Process Focal Point Networks.

  • Shared Accountability with MTAC Services for deployment of digitalization and technology replication throughout Total Maintenance.

  • Implementing Lean Practices.

  • Member of and leads the Site T/A Steering/Strategy Team for Turnarounds.

  • Develops Site Turnaround Strategy, non-routine Strategies and maintains evergreen – cycles, business alignment, communication, etc. – including the 10 year site turnaround forecast.  Integrates site strategy with regional strategy, where applicable.

  • Accountable for preparation and submittal of the annual site Business Plan for Total Maintenance including catalyst changes (grade switches).  

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Goal Zero execution results. No harm to people or environment.

  • Demonstrate personal commitment to Safety by maintaining consistent field presence and participation in safety stand-downs and engagement sessions.

  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, and other functions to deliver premised operating unit availability at the optimum cost.

  • Deliver work efficiently and productively. Measures include, but are not limited to, Time on Tools and Schedule Attainment.

  • Ensures Best Practices are incorporated into site work processes to drive consistency

  • Manage work backlog within acceptable levels. Measures include, but are not limited to, Weeks to Clear Backlog and Total Weeks of Backlog.

  • Identify and remove barriers to achieving efficient work execution.

  • Actively participates in the development of regional contracting strategy and champions regional contracting strategy for the site.

  • Site contract holder for mechanical contractors.

  • Ensures multi-discipline integration and alignment of contractor and Shell organization.

  • Own and deliver to performance metrics for areas of accountability in Safety, Planning, Execution, and Work Closeout.

  • Ensure established Global Dashboards are utilized to manage and drive performance improvement.

  • Ensures effective benchmarking utilized to measure performance, identify and close gaps, to improve turnaround performance.

  • Grow the organization’s competencies to create a long-term sustainable workforce.

  • Maintain a workplace culture of care and respect where everyone is treated equitably and is included.

  • Accountable for setting direction of the organization and developing a high performance, results oriented culture of providing repairs that are completed in a quality, efficient and timely manner.

  • Responsible for delivering services across all crafts lines including Roads, Buildings & Grounds, Garage services, and Waste Management.

What we need from you

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or in any related field. With 15 years of proven delivery of TA’s and Major Maintenance in Chemicals and Products or Upstream (or similar industries)

  • Leader of Community management experience

  • Experience delivering improvements in work processes.

  • Experience working with or managing a union workforce is desired but not required

  • Skill of HSE management systems.

  • Skill of the Total Maintenance processes

  • Experience Leading Functional or Organizational Change

  • Strong Business Acumen

  • Coaching Skills

The base salary range for this position is $210,000 – $314,000 per year.  Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.     

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave to birthing mothers, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for disability leave for up to 52 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
