What’s the role?
To excel in this role, the Key Account Manager should develop a thorough understanding of the customer’s needs, the potential to grow and develop the account and to link this to our Value Propositions. In addition, you will be performing the following responsibilities:
- Deliver financial target e.g., Margin, Volume, Day Sales Credit and other related KPIs.
- Grow portfolio and expand new customers through Sales Professional Behaviour (plan, monitor and review then to achieve individual sales targets and contribute to overall team performance).
- Hunt and acquire new customers to expand customer base from various industrial sectors e.g., manufacturing, construction, mining, and other fuel usage businesses.
- Win over deal negotiation and bidding to acquire new business.
- Strengthen relationship with key customers at all stakeholder levels.
- Deliver customer value propositions and formulate account implementation plan to offer maximum value to both the customers and Shell.
- Drive the pursuit of new customer sectors and growth in line with business strategic direction.
- Ensure on customer satisfaction and business performance at bottom line.
- Passion on energy transition and decarbonization.
- Understand and keep track of changing customer needs, customer structures and the business environment.
- Have an in-depth knowledge of the key competitors & substitution products and understand their strengths and weaknesses thereby exploiting opportunities arising from these.
- Proactively work closely with Critical Business Partners (such as Supply, Distribution, Credit, Sales Support, Pricing Desk, Marketing, Legal & others) to ensure on co-operation between sales and critical business partners, particularly when conflicts may arise from a customers perspective.
- Contribute as part of a team member by building and maintaining positive working environment and demonstrating Enterprise First, Sales and Leadership behaviours
- Accountable for driving own individual development to continuously improve competencies.
- Ensure personal safety and compliance with Shell Manual of Authorities, Shell Group Business Principles, Shell HSSE Policy, Shell Values, Trade Practices Act, Anti-Competitor laws and other relevant Shell policies
What we need from you
To succeed in this role, you will have the following:
- More than 7 years experience in commercial sales & marketing is required preferably in Oil & Gas , Tyre, Steels, Cements, Chemical, Banking and/or other Commodity products with minimum 5 years in B2B sales role.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Commercial, Science or Engineering courses. Master’s Degree is an advantage.
- Proven track records in hunting new customers, managing key accounts, growing portfolios, and winning deals with multi-level stakeholder management.
- Experienced working in multi-level and/or multi-national company.
- Experienced working at manager level is an advantage.
- Good in English communication.
- Strong commercial acumen, stakeholder management, and relationship skills.
- Self-initiate on strategic plan for business growth.
- Agile and adaptable into fast & dynamic competitive environment.
- Amenable to work & travel in southern area. Familiarity on southern area is a plus.
