Job Description:

Provide geotechnical support to site selection and structural development concept option selection, perform platform pile foundation capacity (re-)assessment, contribute to the Basis for Design in Front End Engineering meeting oil & gas development project functional requirements/objectives, and to support Drilling activities for Revisit and Workover campaigns with both jack-up rigs and tender-assisted rigs. Projects include MLNG PSC, F6VLAP, FaS (F27, F22, and Selasih), GK Ph4, and Rosmari & Marjoram. The responsibility includes support to Exploration and Development phases. 

What’s the?role??? 

 

Accountable to CSO Delivery Manager in providing Geotechnical discipline engineering support to P&E-East CSO Team with supervision of Senior Geotechnical Engineer to deliver SMEP Exploration and Field Development. Assists Senior Geotechnical Engineer in providing specialist geotechnical engineering support to key stakeholders, i.e. Front End, Project Delivery, Wells Delivery, Sub-surface/Geohazards workstreams, within the full spectrum of Opportunity, i.e. from Define until Execute Phase 

Scope of this position includes:  

1. Integrate and quality-assure multi-disciplinary input (e.g. geomatics, geotechnical, geohazards etc) in geotechnical deliverables for key stakeholders.  

2. Perform site and field data gathering, including preparation of scope of work for field seabed survey and soil investigation, ensuring that reliable soil information is available for foundation design. Supervision of geotechnical contractor’s field and laboratory works and the soil report  QA/QC perspective. 

3. Perform site-specific assessment for jack-up rigs in accordance with ISO and DEP codes and standards.  

4. Accountable to Project Leaders/Project Managers in managing and executing geotechnical scope of work, including oversight in scoping and cost estimation, and technical assurance for all geotechnical deliverables.  

5. Direct and guide the work of consultants and contractors to ensure that they have prepared, implemented, and are maintaining and following appropriate work process guidelines to ensure that the work product meets Shell’s quality criteria.   

6. Work with the appropriate Shell Technical Authority to ensure that the appropriate Shell and industry technical standards have been identified and are being followed. Also ensure cross-disciplinary input are sought and assured to meet Opportunity/Project objective.  

7. Provide geotechnical technical steer/input in integrated surface-geohazards assessment for facilities siting. Review and comment on geotechnical/geohazards report.  

8. Establish geotechnical design criteria for rigs, anchors, fixed and floating platforms and pipelines, including onshore foundation requirements as required.  

9. Support and execute soil boring field work that includes working offshore soil boring vessels.  

10. Support and execute foundation installation work that includes working offshore installation vessels. 

What do we need from you?? 

1. BSc or BEng (minimum) in Civil Engineering; major in Geotechnical engineering. Experience in geotechnical site investigation, laboratory testing, foundation system design with 3-5 years geotechnical experienceOffshore geotechnical experience is preferred but not compulsory.  

2. Registered with Board of Engineer, Malaysia as a practicing engineer.  

3. Good technical and analytical abilities and a positive HSEQ mindset.  

4. Demonstrates good understanding of Offshore Structure design and construction.  

5. Good understanding of offshore structure design and analysis using industry codes like ISO19000 series, API RP, and DNV RP. Knowledge of Shell Engineering Standards, SES10.1, is an advantage.  

6. Good analytical skill to interpret and utilize Computer Aided Design output from design suites like GRLWEAP and SACS. Knowledge of machine learning or AI is an advantage. 

7. Experience in project execution and asset maintenance is an advantage.  

8. Strong ability to work with others including across disciplines and organizational boundaries. 

9. Strong communication skills, aptitude for taking initiative. 

10. Capable of efficiently managing high workload.  

11. Demonstrate good behavioral attributes and may be requested periodically to help organize and manage team activities like skillpool and team meetings. 

Applicant shall have knowledge in the following areas and can do/use with help: 

  • Investigate Offshore Foundation Conditions (Marine Soil Investigation) 
  • Determine Offshore Geotechnical Design Parameters 
  • Perform Offshore Foundation Design & Analysis (wells) 
  • Address General Offshore Geotechnical Issues 
  • Applicants must be mobile to travel or relocate to support business needs as and when required. The individual shall be medically fit to travel and stay at remote locations (i.e. offshore platforms) as and when required, and able to travel by helicopter and/or crew boat
