What’s the role?
The successful candidate will work in an integrated high-performance Shearwater Cluster Subsurface Development team, located in Aberdeen. This role will be part of a cross-functional subsurface/production team and in this role, you will contribute to planning and delivery of safe and efficient wells, maximizing value through well, reservoir and facility management, identifying, and maturing new in-field hydrocarbon opportunities, plus safe and efficient well abandonment. You will interface with exploration and new business development to high grade the portfolio and targeted maturation of highest value opportunities.
The Geophysicist will work closely with the Area Development Subsurface Manager and Principal Geophysicist and will be key in delivering:
- HSSE: Supporting and delivering subsurface safety critical activities.
- Leverage seismic interpretation and depth conversion skills to rapidly assess, incorporate and communicate the interpretation impact of new 3D and 4D seismic data.
- Provide robust well-planning and operational support for complex well-delivery.
- Provide geophysics input to integrated reservoir modelling for resource assessment, forecasting and reservoir management.
- Assess the requirement and clearly communicate the impact that future seismic acquisition, processing and/or quantitative interpretation (QI) studies would have on the field’s development.
- Digitalization initiatives including AI assisted interpretation.
- External engagements including presenting at Technical Committee Meetings and Subsurface Workshops
- Collaborate across both interdisciplinary teams and global geoscience expertise in support of robust business deliverables.

What we need from you
- Relevant Geophysics degree or equivalent
- Sound understanding of key geophysics principles (Seismic interpretation (3D & 4D), time to depth conversion, geohazards analysis)
- Experience in delivery of subsurface safety critical activities
- Experience with well planning within development/exploration environments.
- Experience with working with a large number of seismic datasets.
- Experience with 4D seismic/QI is an advantage.
- Performance focus: agility and a focus on delivery/performance, with a supporting commercial mind-set, coupled with the ability to take responsibility in an empowered organization. Willing to lead, integrate across functions and problem solve.
- Innovation / Learning mindset: doing things differently (simplified, efficient worked practices) and/or new technology application.
- Demonstrable networking and stakeholder management skills both internally and externally – ability to learn from and influence.
- Fluent written and spoken English is essential. Well-developed reporting and presentation skills are helpful
