POSITION SUMMARY
The Finance Intern position will provide a summer internship to students who are pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Accounting or Finance.  This is a high impact position that allows the intern to perform real-world, value-added work while learning a significant amount about the very challenging accounting requirements and state-of-the-art systems used to perform that accounting in this exciting and dynamic industry.

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will assist in supporting all aspects of compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and participate in ad-hoc technology projects to improve accounting or SOX testing processes. In this role, interns will be given wide exposure to various accounting and finance processes and controls (e.g. how different types of transactions are initiated, processed, and recorded from beginning to end, and how different departments interact with each other within the process). The intern will also have the opportunity to work with multiple accounting and finance department personnel, including many who are the subject matter experts in their areas.

 

Under the direction of the SOX Sr Manager and Sr Specialist, interns will assist in supporting compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), including:

  • Participate in the walkthrough meetings led by external auditors and SOX Sr Specialist to gain an understanding of various accounting and finance processes and controls
  • Perform control testing by evaluating the supporting documentation against the SOX test plans
  • Interact with accounting and finance process and control owners

 

The interns will deliver a presentation to senior leadership in accounting and finance at the conclusion of their internship.

 

QUALIFICATIONS
Education

  • In pursuit of Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field with a minimum of 6 hours of Accounting coursework
  • Minimum GPA of 3.25
  • Coursework demonstrating aptitude for systems and technology
