Within the Australian Corporate Relations team, the integrated External Affairs function delivers value by supporting the Shell’s strategy in Australia, including securing and driving Shell’s reputation and values.

Reporting directly into the External Affairs Manager, you will drive the delivery of integrated solutions to create and protect value – pursuing strategic ambitions and growing Shell’s reputation in Australia across natural gas, LNG, Renewables & Energy Solutions and New Business Development opportunities.

Drawing on a strong base of professional excellence, we aspire to be best-in-class at achieving integrated outcomes through effective management of non-technical risk, stakeholder engagement, government relations and business partnering.

Key responsibilities of this dynamic role include:

  • Working across natural teams within both the Shell and the broader Corporate Relations team, you will ensure risks, opportunities and mitigations arising from the changing external operating environment are built into business decisions, planning and design.
  • Partnering with our assets to protect and grow our license to operate, as well as bringing an ‘outside in’ perspective to ensure the business has an early understanding of external stakeholder interests and influences.
  • Develop and deliver integrated plans that support both business and reputation value protection and creation, as well as effectively managing risks.
  • Providing advice and analysis to leaders support robust business decision making processes.
  • Managing and supporting key internal and external stakeholders.

Key competencies for this role include external stakeholder relationship management, government relations, corporate communications, policy & advocacy, issues & crisis management and business partnering.

What we need from you

To achieve success in this role, you will have extensive experience in stakeholder engagement, corporate communications (business and public affairs/strategic communications) and a demonstrated capability in issues management and crisis management.

You will also need to have sound commercial acumen, with excellent communication, written and oral presentation skills, with the ability to communicate and establish positive relationships across multiple layers of the business.
