HYBRID ELIGIBILITY

This position works a hybrid schedule, spending time remotely and in the office in Offshore, US. The current hybrid schedule provides flexibility to collaborate in the office Tuesdays through Thursdays and work from home Mondays and Fridays. With our 9/80 feature you get time off every other Friday when you work at least 80 hours over the preceding nine days.

 

POSITION SUMMARY: The Electrical Technician assures stable facility operations and assists with the delivery of production targets through competent operation and maintenance of the power generation, electrical distribution, and electrical consumption aspects of the facility.
This position will be located Offshore in the Gulf of Mexico on a rotational basis (14/14).

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety:

  • Complying with the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) and United States Coast Guard (USCG) regulations
  • Complying with all requirements in the GOM Management Systems and Hess EHS standards and practices as defined within the Hess EHS and Social Responsibility (SR) Management System
  • Understanding and managing work-related risk, to prevent accidents and harm to people, to reduce damage to the environment, to protect the facility and to achieve competitive performance
  • Assuring all electrical work is performed in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with Hess policies and procedures
  • Completing operations in accordance with regulatory requirements, company controls and guidelines
  • Assuring the correct permits, isolations, lift plans, etc., are created and properly executed
  • Performing the duties of a Permit Issuer or a Permit Holder in compliance with the Hess Permit to Work system and according to competency level
  • Assuring any work undertaken personally or by co-workers is completed with a drivenpurpose to eliminate or reduce risk from the workplace
  • Contributing to the safe and efficient operations through competent maintenance ofprocess systems and electrical equipment
  • Participating in the safety observation card (SOC) program
  • Demonstrating leadership integrity in process and occupational safety
  • Understanding Stop Work Authority (SWA) and Ultimate Work Authority (UWA),proactively using SWA when necessary
  • Participating in safety meetings and supporting any electrical safety topics
  • Being accountable for improved EHS performance:
  • Managing occupational health and safety risks to eliminate injuries, illness, andincidents.
  • Participating during pre-job planning, job safety analyses (JSAs), toolbox talks,simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) meeting and during the job.
  • Managing process safety risks, including environmental risks, to reduce processupsets including spills, leaks, and flaring
  • Participating as a member of the Emergency Response Team:
  • Complying with the responsibilities assigned as defined in each asset’sEmergency Response Plan (ERP) and the Emergency Evacuation Plan (EEP)
  • Participating in emergency response exercises to assure a full understanding ofthe process and procedures

Quality:

  •  Maintaining the capability to safely operate and maintain electrical systems and equipment which includes, but is not limited to:
  • Understanding hazardous locations (area classification), Low Voltage (LV) powerdistribution equipment (e.g., switchgear, circuit breakers, motor controls,transformers, panelboards, station and cranking batteries, uninterrupted powersupply [UPS], control panels,    heaters, variable frequency drives [VFDs], highresistance grounding (HRG) systems, cables, and wiring)
  • Medium Voltage (MV) power distribution equipment (e.g., switchgear, circuitbreakers, motor controls, transformers, control systems, cables, and wiring)
  • Power utilization equipment (e.g., lighting, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning [HVAC], heaters and medium/low voltage motors)
  • Electrical protection equipment (e.g., fuses, circuit breakers, overload protection, relays, and grounding)
  • Power generation equipment (MV and LV generators, voltage regulators, power management equipment, synchronization equipment, neutral grounding resistors). Familiar with turbine and diesel engine operation as they pertain to generator operation
  • Rotating equipment (e.g., MV and LV AC motors and LV DC motors)
  • Firefighting equipment (e.g., lifeboat electrical components, emergency lighting, horns, call stations, strobes as determined by the asset)
  • Hazardous area electrical equipment (e.g., class/division wiring methods and sealing requirements, NEMA 7)
  • Discussing plant operation with functional support, as required, to highlight potential electrical and power safety issues
  • Completing all maintenance routines as defined by the planned maintenance (PM) schedules and the appropriate procedure
  • Actively participating in the Hess Lean Continuous Improvement (CI) process, striving to improve operating and run-time efficiency
  • Participating in root-cause failure investigations as required to prevent recurrence and help identify “trigger events” as failure cause
  • Assuring the technical integrity of electrical equipment and maintenance standards
  • Maintaining full engagement and compliance with the System Ownership plan (autonomous maintenance)
  • Working with the team to assure complete job plans and work packs, ensuring there are no gaps in work orders and all information is correct prior to being progressed
  • Assuring quality notification creation and work order close-out with necessary attachments, pictures, and long text updates for completed work
  • Assuring that equipment received onboard is the correct type and specification as ordered prior to the work being scheduled
  • Complying with the Hess Work Management process in SAP for all work on the facility
  • Recommending changes to the maintenance strategy, policy and procedures as required
  • Comply with all requirements in the Hess Operational Management System (HOMS) documents
  • Participating in meetings as designated by the agreed terms of reference (TORs) 

Delivery:

  • Informing the MS or Senior Electrical Technician of any maintenance activities that could potentially impact reliability

Cost:

  • Having an awareness of and challenging all maintenance and consumable costs
  • incurred within the Operations teams’ production activities

People:

  • Jointly agreeing upon personal performance objectives with the MS and implementingand maintaining management and career development to improve and enhance contribution to the overall team and safety of the facility
  • Reviewing personal performance objectives and progress with the MS
  • Actively engaging in the sharing of technical knowledge with team members andElectricians on other Hess facilities

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and Skills

  • Complying with and meeting the Hess Corporation and Regulatory Competency Requirements for GOM
  • High level of knowledge and understanding around personal and process safety
  • Understanding and complying with BSEE GOM regulatory requirements as defined by Hess for competence requirements within this role/discipline
  • Knowledge in offshore production operations
  • Knowledge of SAP or other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Good working knowledge of Permit to Work systems
  • Good computer skills with the Microsoft 365 suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook,
  • Teams)
  • Completing ongoing education, refresher, and new equipment training to maintain highlevel

  • Strong Knowledge of Industry Regulations Codes and Standards, including NFPA 70
  • National Electrical Code, API codes
  • Experience with 480VAC Distribution Equipment including switchgear and Motor Control

  • Experience with Hi Potential and IRT testing, switching plans, and black start procedures
  • Strong understanding of are classifications, class, divisions, and zones
  • Experience with Rotating Electrical Equipment
  • Experience with DC Battery Systems
  • Knowledgeable about the preparation, installation, inspection and maintenance of IEC and Ex electrical equipment in explosive atmospheres
  • Knowledgeable about the inspection and maintenance of intrinsically safe and nonincendive equipment and systems in explosive atmospheres.
  • Experience working with medium and low voltage switchgears, motor control centers, UPS and battery chargers is desirable
  • Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician experience is desirable
  • Strong Knowledge of API 14F and API 500 is desirable

 

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working offshore deepwater desirable
  • Experience working as an electrician

 

EDUCATION,TRIANING & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Electrical Associates Degree required
  • Obtaining and maintaining Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET)
