Walloons Coal Seam Gas Company (Walloons) is the domestic gas marketing and trading arm for the Queensland Curtis LNG (QCLNG) project. The team reports to the Trading & Supply business unit and is a key part of the integrated value chain between the Australian East Coast domestic gas market and international LNG export market.
What’s the role?
The Duty Trader will manage the execution of daily contractual and regulatory obligations in accordance with set timeframes and identify opportunities to create value for QGC through the execution of transactions. More specifically:
Managing the physical scheduling and dispatch of the QCLNG portfolio in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with regulatory requirements and contractual obligations.
Identifying, developing, and executing trading opportunities to optimise the portfolio to create incremental value for the organisation.
All aspects of physical gas trading operations, analysis, contract management, negotiation, and risk.
Maintaining tools and processes to support efficient team performance.
What we need from you
The successful applicant will:
Have a degree in numerate discipline/s (e.g., business / economics / engineering / science / mathematics)
Be a strong collaborator and be comfortable in engaging both internally and externally in a professional, courteous, and purposeful manner; having the ability to communicate clearly and accurately at all levels
Have a focus on compliance and maintain a high standard of integrity
Be a driven self-starter who can operate autonomously and deliver to set targets; having high attention to detail with the ability to prioritise and deliver to a high level of accuracy
Have a commercial mindset with the ability to identify, assess and execute commercial opportunities, be numerate with an analytical mindset and be comfortable in solving complex problems
Be able to demonstrate resilience under pressure and the ability to deliver under tight time frames, prepared to work on a shift roster in the Brisbane office that can require availability at all hours of the day
Be comfortable working in a close team environment that requires individuals to take on a high level of accountability
Other desirable skills or demonstrated willingness to learn:
Exposure to Australian and/or international energy markets
Analytical skills including high proficiency with Excel (VBA, Python, SQL, Power BI & Databricks are advantageous).
