As we expand our global presence, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Aviation Advisor to join our team and play a pivotal role in ensuring aviation safety and efficiency in our operations.
What's the role?
As an Aviation Advisor at Shell Aircraft, you will be a key member of our Air Safety team, focused on enhancing aviation safety through the analysis of leading indicators, influencing industry standards, and promoting a safety culture.
Your primary responsibility will be to enable our business units to make effective and efficient use of air transport solutions while prioritizing safety above all else.
More specifically, your key responsibilities include:
- Safety Promotion: Implement safety promotion initiatives and campaigns within the organization to foster a safety-conscious culture.
- Efficiency Enhancement: Work closely with aviation service providers to optimize air transport solutions, improve operational efficiency, and reduce costs without compromising safety standards.
- Business Partnering: Through collaboration and effective business partnering, support the delivery of Shell’s aviation strategy.
- Leading Indicator Analysis: Monitor and analyze aviation safety data and leading indicators to identify potential risks and trends. Develop proactive strategies to address safety concerns and prevent incidents.
- Data-driven Decision Making: Utilize data analysis and reporting tools to provide insights and recommendations for improving aviation safety and efficiency.
- Learning from Incidents and Normal work: Participate in the investigation of air safety accidents and incidents as required.
- Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for specific areas of expertise (as nominated) and to keep up-to-date in those subjects, understanding that these responsibilities may be changed from time to time.
- Industry Standard Influence: Stay current with aviation regulations and standards, and actively engage with industry stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and aviation organizations such as IOGP & Heli-Offshore to shape and influence industry standards and best practices.
What we need from you?
We are keen to hear from applicants with the following experience:
- The ability to work in small teams or alone (self-starter), deployed worldwide from the Shell Aircraft Rotterdam office, often at short notice and with limited administrative support.
- The ability be able to operate effectively in a team that operates across world time zones, requiring flexible work hours and the ability to work with a variety of cultures and languages.
- The ability to effectively initiate and lead change by influencing others through personal connections and positive behaviour communication. It involves leveraging interpersonal skills, persuasive techniques, and clear communication to inspire others and drive transformation within an organization or team.
- The ability to think “outside of the box” (creativity). Make best use of information sharing (PowerBi, Sharepoint, Yammer etc) to achieve our goal. Prioritising workload with minimal supervision to deliver high-quality written work, often dealing with competing business targets.
- Flexibility is an essential requirement, as is the ability travel worldwide without constraint.
- Applicants should be a proven aviator:
- Have held a fixed or rotary wing pilots’ licence, ATPL (or equivalent); or
- A current aircraft maintenance engineers’ licence (EASA Part-66 Cat-C) or eq.; or
- CAMO engineer (EASA Part-CAMO or eq.) or design engineer (EASA Part-21 or eq.) or
- Aviation logistical background (fleet-manager, supply chain manager)
- Aviation regulatory background (EASA/NAA or eq.)
In addition, you must have relevant experience in the aviation industry and have held management positions within an aircraft operating company and the following:
- Have extensive experience in all aspects of aircraft operation and support, as well as an understanding of the commercial and legislative aspects of aviation.
- Possess a good knowledge and willingness to learn of aviation quality and safety management systems and their effective application.
Applicants should also possess sufficient intellectual range and capacity, high levels of drive, passion for aviation safety and commitment, combined with the ability to write technical reports and brief succinctly on complex aviation issues to all levels of management within both Shell BUs and their contractors.
