This is a key operational and planning role in the Base Oil Americas team accountable for optimization of the base oil supply to Shell and 3rd-party toll blending facilities and managing key operational aspects of GTL (gas-to-liquid) hubs in the US Gulf Coast. This role will have extensive interface with base oil third party suppliers providing an excellent development opportunity for commercial exposure.
Supply and Operations:
Monitor NA LOBP's (Lube Oil Blending Plant) current and future supply position based on consumption, & future demand requirements. Optimize supply logistics to meet demand
Provide business input and coaching to 4 Base Oil Material Schedulers based in Shell SBO Manila. Coordinate supply optimization activities with Schedulers to ensure LOBP supply security
Support development of monthly demand forecasts: delegate for Base Oil Supply Chain Manager in S&OP Step 3 and 90-day forecast to suppliers
Support commercial feasibility and implementation (spot base oil opportunities) and LOBP supply improvements (formulation and infrastructure management of change)
Provide operational Base Oil input into annual Supply Security reviews (Business Continuity Plan secondary focal)
Support ideation and implementation of supply digitalization improvements: Base Oil Scheduling Tool project, Demand Planning, etc.
Deliver supply in accordance with base oil sustainability targets.
Stakeholder & Contractor Management:
Manage barge fleet with Shell Trading team. Primary focal point for Shell Trading and barge / marine related issues. Ensure barges and load/discharge terminals are vetted for trading and supplier-delivered barges
Manage rail fleet with Shell internal stakeholders, focal point for SLA, accountable for right sizing fleet.
Interface with GTL team on operational aspects of GTL sales from US Gulf Coast hubs
Interface with Trading & Supply Commercial Operations on marine shipments from Base Oil hub to LATAM: primary focal point between terminal and Commercial Ops
Primary focal point between LOBP's and suppliers: prioritize shipments, if needed, resolve quality issues & initiate the waiver process if required, raise the urgency level of shipments with suppliers if orders are being delayed, communicate order delays to LOBP & work with suppliers for truck/rail shipments if needed to prevent impact to the plants, resolve other supplier related issues for LOBP's
Provide supply input to Base Oil supplier, Shell Trading and 3rd-party terminal (Outside Supply Point OSP) Quarterly Business Review
Cost Management:
Identify, track and execute COGS savings around Base Oil logistics and other supply initiatives. Own associated improvement opportunities. Monthly reporting of actual vs forecasted savings
Responsible for managing supplier/trading demurrage claims
Track and report demurrage for base oil rail & marine movements. Report monthly accruals to Finance that exceed expected freight costs
Review supplier and trading invoices related to OPEX (demurrage, storage fees, railcar maintenance) and approve via SAP Universal Worklist
Inventory Management:
Work with Base Oil Demand Coordinator to report Base Oil inventory KPI's: LOBP Stock-out data, S&OP forecast accuracy, Base Oil DII, etc. Lead gap analysis and continuous improvement opportunities
Utilize DDMRP to determine inventory and working capital strategy. Accountable for maintaining and updating network targets and tracking LOBP Base Oil inventories @ Shell Oil Lubricants & 3P lubricants blending facilities
Balance working capital targets while maintaining PSS (product supply security), especially for key accounts
Key role in Base Oil shortages (STEM): Drive alternative options of suppliers, formulations, source points, modes of transport
What we need from you
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis.
Bachelor’s Degree is required
Minimum of 5 years relevant experience
Must have a supply chain experience
Must have a HSSE leadership and commitment
Inventory Management experience is a plus
Experience in Lubricants Supply Chain / trading is a plus
The base salary range for this position is $122,000 - $182,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave to birthing mothers, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
Additionally, employees are eligible for disability leave for up to 52 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
