The successful candidate will report to the Geoscience Manager for GoM Production and be a key member of a highly skilled, multi-disciplined subsurface team, delivering integrated assessments of Hess’ producing Gulf of Mexico assets.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strong regional to reservoir level seismic interpreter with extensive experience working in salt basins (preferably the US GoM) including seismic interpretation of deep water turbidite systems in both sub-salt and supra salt settings.
- Adept at quickly and accurately characterizing and communicating both basin and reservoir scale rock physics response of reservoirs and fluids including AVO analysis (including sub-salt environments) and seismic forward modeling.
- Deep understanding of deep-water turbidite reservoir systems and their behavior in salt basins.
- Reservoir geophysics including 4D seismic processing, interpretation, and seismic inversion.
- Familiar with the latest seismic acquisition and processing workflows for optimizing sub-salt seismic imaging, including long offset OBN surveys and FWI processing.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver integrated geophysical insights with direct impact on reservoir management decisions.
- Build and maintain a deep geologic and geophysical understanding of Hess’ producing assets in the US GoM.
- Deliver structural, stratigraphic and hydrocarbon presence interpretations in support of reservoir modeling through the integration of well and seismic data, at regional and local scales including:
- Structural interpretations of reservoirs and key sub-regional horizons in context of salt basin evolution
- Detailed seismic stratigraphic interpretations from sub-basin to reservoir level, incorporating offset field and well data.
- Quantitative seismic reservoir and fluid prediction using AVO and 4D seismic analysis.
- Recommend and execute geophysical data gathering and processing activities to optimize reservoir understanding and field management.
- Actively collaborate with Reservoir & Production Engineers on production optimization and field development planning.
- Conduct and participate in appropriate technical peer reviews, partner reviews and workshops.
- Effectively communicate results of work to Hess management and Joint Venture partners.

- Provide support for special projects, sub-regional interpretation and exploration efforts around producing assets as required.
- Lead, coach, and mentor less experienced staff and drive continuous improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to problem solve production related subsurface issues through the application of a wide range of data collection, analysis and interpretation techniques including well log, seismic and dynamic production data.
- Strong understanding of salt tectonics and structural geology and relevance to reservoir management. GoM experience is highly beneficial.
- Excellent presentation skills including the ability to clearly represent complex geophysical interpretations and associated uncertainties.
- Strong geophysical interpretation skills including seismic interpretation and ability to integrate across multiple disciplines, data types (well log, seismic, core, pressure etc.) and scales (well, field, and basin scales).
- A deep understanding of the importance of sub-regional context in production geoscience interpretations including petroleum systems and basin analysis with the ability to assess when additional work is needed.
- Familiarity with SEC reserves certification and reporting process is beneficial.
- Exposure to and understanding of principles of data science is an advantage, including familiarity with big data analytics.
